Is Pelvic Floor Therapy Right for Me?
It’s common to wonder whether pelvic floor physical therapy applies to you—especially if your symptoms feel mild, seem common, or feel less than “serious.”

Pelvic floor issues can be subtle. They may come and go, change with stress or fatigue, or shift during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, exercise, or different phases of life. Many women are told their symptoms are “normal,” or that exams look “fine,” which can make it even harder to know whether support would help.

But "common" does not mean "normal". See if pelvic floor PT may be right for you.
Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy May Be Helpful if You’re Experiencing:
-
Bladder leaks, sudden urges, or frequent trips to the bathroom
-
Pelvic pain or pain with sex
-
A sense of pelvic pressure or heaviness
-
Core weakness or trouble getting back to exercise
-
Symptoms during pregnancy or after childbirth
-
Ongoing symptoms despite "doing Kegels" or being told everything looks normal
You don’t need to have all of these for pelvic floor therapy to be helpful.
What Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Focuses On
-
Understanding how your pelvic floor muscles coordinate with breathing, posture, and movement
-
Identifying patterns of tension, weakness, or poor timing
-
Education and guided strategies tailored specifically to your own body
-
Building confidence with daily activities, exercise, and intimacy

What pelvic floor physical therapy IS NOT:

-
Not a one-size-fits-all exercise program
-
Not just Kegels
-
Not something you need to "wait until it's worse" to pursue
Care is individualized and always starts with understanding how your body is responding.

Not Sure Yet?
Many women hesitate because their symptoms don’t feel severe — or because they’ve been told this is just part of aging, childbirth, or stress.

If you’re unsure whether pelvic floor therapy applies to you, a short quiz can help you recognize common symptom patterns and understand what typically helps. It’s educational, not diagnostic, and can give you a clearer sense of next steps.
